The SIJ bunch had the great honor of staying overnight at Sempukuji Temple. The temple’s leader (gozensama) led the group in a zen meditation and showed us the national treasures stored in the temple.
The next day, SIJ got to see a fire ritual performed at the top of a mountain and hiked up a sacred mountain pass that has connections to both Shinto and Buddhist practices.
All in all, the SIJ team found Kunisaki to be a magnificent area, full of culture and spirit! We greatly appreciate the hospitality of all temples involved!
