At the Summer in JAPAN 2026 Opening Ceremony, SIJ Co-founder Sumire Hirotsuru \u201816 and Ashiya City Mayor Ryosuke Takashima \u201822 held a highly engaging panel discussion! \ud83d\udde3\ufe0f\u2728<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking back on their college days abroad, they shared personal stories about learning the crucial skill of \u201casking for help.\u201d A standout topic was their experience with American university attendance policies, where simply showing up to class isn\u2019t enough\u2014students must actively raise their hands and share their opinions to truly be counted as present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
