SIJ Concert is back this year! As we mark the 9th year of Summer in JAPAN, Sumire is welcoming two tango musicians who she met in Vermont, US in 2018. Yukie Kawanami, the winner of the 1st Che Bandoneon International Competition, and Moeri Kobayashi, who learned tango piano from Pablo Ziegler, one of the leading tango pianists from Argentina will be joined by SIJ Co-Founder, Sumire Hirotsuru on violin. Summer in JAPAN Classical Concert goes online this year! SIJ co-founder Sumire Hirotsuru will be performing her first-ever online concert, welcoming two musicians based in her hometown Oita – Hideki Goto on piano & Jumpei Niimi on baritone. The music selection includes her favorite solo violin repertoire, solo baritone classics, Japanese tunes and some violin-piano-baritone trio arrangements which are rarely put together. Sumire Hirotsuru, a violinist from Oita and the winner of an international music competition; Carl Rogers, a member of the Harvard-Radclie Orchestra, the oldest symphony orchestra in the U.S.; and Jason Lee, who studies molecular biology and the piano, perform classical music. Self-expression through art, as well as studying, will be conveyed to children.
