Free trip to Japan!

SIJ is a fully funded two-week education & tourism program in Oita, Japan that offers Harvard University students and recent alumni exceptional opportunities:

1. Make an impact on education: One week of practical leadership experience conducting workshops in English (Computer Science, Performing Arts, Public Speaking, and Language Arts) for schoolchildren aged 7 to 18 from all over the world
2. Enjoy free trip Japan: two-week fully covered accommodation in both Oita where SIJ Team teach, learn and eat together, and anywhere you’ve always wanted to visit, Tokyo, Kyoto.

Compensation:

International round-trip airfare, domestic transportations in Japan, accommodation, meals. a variety of events and Japanese culture experiences and more. For details, please apply.

Participating students:

• Japanese and international students aged 7-18

Responsibilities:

– Exhibit your talent in teaching
– Lead and encourage your students and make them successful during seminar and beyond.
– Make an impact on education by helping students discover their strengths and pursue their dreams and inspiring a love of learning that lasts far beyond the seminar.

How to apply:

Every year, we typically receive about 100 applications for only five to ten instructor positions. After the primary screening based on written documents and the second screening involving an interview with the President and Founder of SIJ, Mari Hirotsuru, this year, we plan to accept six instructors to receive this amazing opportunity to discover the true Japan, for free. It is surely worth a try!

• Step 1: fill in the registration form below to obtain the SIJ 2026 Official Application Form which is to open on Dec 19 JST.
• Step 2: (first screening) Submit your SIJ 2026 Official Application Form together with your resume no later than February 28th, 2026.
• Step 3: (second screening) remote interview with Mari Hirotsuru in March.
• Step 4: Applicants will be informed of the final decision by the end of April.
• Step 5: Free trip to Japan!
