The key to globalization and the future of this country is your flexibility to accept differences and diversity. This program not only brings cutting-edge education system to local communities in Oita, Japan but also provides opportunities for visitors from overseas to explore Japan and communicate with its people.
Summer in JAPAN, which has long had Oita, Japan as its sole destination for SIJ participants from all over the world, will extend its branches to a second location in Okayama, Japan in commemoration of its fifth anniversary this 2017. Many thanks go to Okayama’s prefectural and municipal governments, media companies, and last but not least, one of Japan’s leading clothing companies, Stripe International INC., which was originally established in Okayama, for making SIJ Okayama possible.
Below are some useful tips and attractions of SIJ’s two prefectures, Oita and Okayama.

During SIJ, energetic Japanese college students, international students from Asian countries, and Harvard students get together to show their leadership, in leading and teaching classes full of students both in and outside of Japan.
Okayama
Okayama is just a one-hour train ride away from Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan. You will be surprised to see ancient culture and tradition still remain part of the everyday landscape. Take Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden, for example, the former built about 420 years ago, and the latter 300 years ago, serving as a relaxing space for local people and visiting tourists. Moreover, you will enjoy a variety of local specialties, such as fruit and seafood, blessed with gentle sunshine and clear waters.
