Bringing Imagination to the Stage! SIJ2026: Performing Arts

In Performing Arts workshop, students create and perform their own play. Through dance, vocal, and acting warmups through learning about characterization, prop-making, setting, and choreography, the students develop the capacity to ideate and implement their ideas. Each day of class, the students were guided to create a plotline with complex characters and their identities and dialogue. Furthermore, the students learned how to act with emotion, dynamics, and knowledge of the context of a scene and how it should impact a character’s decisions and moods. Finally, the students acted in a 20-minute play, where they narrated and acted, and sang and danced to multiple songs (chosen amongst themselves with logical discourse) successfully to an audience of hundreds.
