Inspiring the Audience with Confidence!🎤 SIJ2026: Public Speaking

In the Public Speaking workshop, students learned a wide range of techniques to elevate their vocal delivery, presence, and overall confidence on stage. Through dynamic speech warm-ups, tongue twisters, and interactive games, students pushed past performance anxiety while improving their articulation and improvisation skills. Throughout the week, students also explored the three pillars of public speaking: they learned Pathos through vocal emotion and dramatic pauses, Ethos through body language and eye contact, and Logos through the PREP model to structure logical arguments. For their final presentation, students gathered family research to deliver a 7-minute group presentation proposing creative solutions to connect Oita to the world. Students left the workshop not only with a stronger grasp of the English language, but with the leadership, critical thinking, and vocal presence needed to inspire their audience.
